Our member Pavel Litterbach attended the 2016 Toru Giga Cup Czech Open Taikai attended by national level kenshi from France, Poland, Czech Republic, Great Britain and New Zealand. We are very proud of him for winning 1st place in men’s division and 3rd place in mixed teams. Congratulations Pavel!
Tsuzuku sensei, Ishimori sensei, and Yamada san Visit
On Saturday October 1st we were joined by Tsuzuku sensei, Ishimori sensei, and Yamada san. Thank you so much for driving down to practice with us! We really enjoyed training with you and we hope to see you again soon!
Koki Abe Sensei Visit
On Monday September 19th we had Koki Abe sensei visit us from Japan. Thank you so much for taking your time to join us for keiko! We all enjoyed practicing with you very much, and we learned a lot. Please come back any time, sensei!
2016 Japan Fest
We had a great time at Japan Fest this year! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and watched our demo. And thank you to all the great Atlanta Kendo Kai volunteers that helped make this a successful event!
2016 All Florida Tournament
Our members had a great time at the All Florida Tournament this past weekend! Thank you very much to Maeda-sensei and the UCF for hosting a great event. And thank you to Ro-sensei from Tampa, Becerra-sensei from Tokubukan, and Kataoka-sensei from NYC for your help and advice. It was great to see you and to learn from you all.
Here are the results for Atlanta Kendo Kai members:
AKK placed 1st in the team event. Our team included Ryoko Barr-sensei, Jonathan Oliver, Victor Koh, and guests members James Kim-sensei from Triangle Kendo and Yong Back from Washington Kendo Club.
Ryoko Barr-sensei placed 1st in the women’s division.
Victor Koh placed 2nd in the shodan to 3 dan division.
And in testing, both Claire Kim and Shea Dodson passed 3rd kyu.

6th Annual Georgia Kendo Taikai
We had a great time at the 6th Annual Georgia Kendo Taikai held by GKA on May 29th 2016.
Testing Results:
Frank Campodonico passed shodan.
Victor Lim passed 1st kyu.
Claire Kim passed 4th kyu.
Tournament Results:
Gulam Dasthagir won 1st place in the mudansha division.
Minami Sato won 1st place in the women’s division.
Reiko DeSouza won 3rd place in the women’s division.
Taiji Nomura won 1st place in the 1-2 Dan division.
Pavel Litterbach won 3rd place in the 3 Dan and above division.
Team A (Minami Sato, Victor Koh, Taiji Nomura, Pavel Litterbach, and Jonathan Oliver) won 3rd place in the team division.

6th Annual Ota Cup Taikai
On Saturday, March 19th, Atlanta Kendo Kai held its 6th annual Ota Cup Taikai, an internal only tournament used to teach all members about the logistics of running and competing in a tournament. Everyone did a great job and it was our most successful Ota Cup to date!

2015 SEUSKF Taikai Results
We all had a great time at the South Eastern United States Kendo Championships in Indian Trail, NC this past weekend. We are really proud of all our Atlanta Kendo Kai members that competed and tested. And we have some great results to announce!
Tournament Results:
– Atlanta Kendo Kai Team A (Victor Koh, Yoshimi DeSouza, Ryoko Barr, Pavel Litterbach, and Taiji Nomura) won 3rd place in the team event.
– Pavel Litterbach won 2nd place in the 4th dan and above division.
-Victor Koh won 1st place in the Shodan to 3rd-dan division.
– Ryoko Barr won 1st place in the women’s division.
– Yoshimi DeSouza won 2nd place in the women’s division.
– Reiko DeSouza won 3rd place in the women’s division.
